About Sarah
- After earning my bachelor’s degree in psychology and sociology, I kicked off my career as a wilderness counselor, living in the woods and guiding teens through life-changing programs.
- I helped launch a Transition to Independence program to support foster youth aging out of the system.
- I took a short break to spend a year in South Korea teaching English and working on grad school applications.
- I earned my master’s in public policy from the University of Michigan to deepen my impact through systems change.
- I conducted equity audits, uncovering how institutions treat people from different backgrounds unequally.
- Craving direct impact, I became a school principal and found joy being with students every day.
- I spent eight years with D.C. Public Schools, shaping policies and supporting schools from the central office.
- Now I lead network success at XQ Institute, helping school leaders nationwide reimagine high school for today’s world.
