About Mawuli Mel
- I was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois.
- I began my journey at the United States Naval Academy, later earning my master's degree from Bowie State while stationed overseas.
- I worked as a naval officer while attending law school at night, determined to balance duty and education.
- Starting in commercial real estate law, I soon transitioned to solo practice, launching my own firm with my wife.
- In 2007, I partnered with Robert Bozeman to establish Davis Bozeman Law where we expanded our impact on civil rights cases.
- Witnessing injustice firsthand led me to shift from criminal defense to civil rights law, fighting for victims of police brutality.
- I co-founded Black Man Lab, a mentorship initiative bringing together Black men to build community and support one another.
- Additionally, I teach at Clark Atlanta University where I guide young Black scholars and ensure they are prepared for careers in law.
