About Matthew
- My mom was a teacher and my dad was a university administrator, so education runs in my family.
- At age 24, just as the internet was beginning to impact universities, I co-founded an education software company called Blackboard.
- From there, I built my career in educational technology, leading the team at Blackboard as CEO.
- I went back to school and earned my Ph.D. in sociology.
- I joined the faculty at Arizona State University and taught undergraduate classes in the sociology of education.
- After earning my Ph.D., I transitioned from Blackboard to Parchment, where I currently work as the CEO.
