About Ahmed
- I was born and raised in Oakland, California.
- I earned my bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
- I knew I was meant to help others and make a difference in my community—I started as a community health advocate, helping victims of gun violence move forward in a positive way.
- I decided I wanted to be able to advocate for policy change at a higher level, so I went back to school for my master’s in public policy.
- I then came back home to Oakland and got a job working for the city’s new department of transportation where I led equitable engagement in our communities.
- I joined Square, where I led the opening of the Square office in Oakland and supported entrepreneurs, artists, and nonprofits in participating in the local economy and community.
- I’m now working as the global social impact lead for Block, formerly Square, where I continue to work with others to collectively make a positive impact in our local communities.
