No matter how difficult it might be, don’t give up.
About Ching-Hua
- I was born in Beijing, China.
- During the farming season, I worked hard labor during the day in a Mongolian village and studied an advanced learning dictionary at night.
- I earned my medical degree from Beijing Medical College.
- While in medical school, I wanted to become an ophthalmologist but my index finger needed to be amputated due to an injury, which deemed me unfit to become a surgical physician.
- At that point, I decided I wanted to become a professor instead—I was assigned to work as an assistant professor for immunology, which then led to me earning my master’s degree in immunology.
- After immigrating to the United States, I earned my Ph.D. in immunology and then applied to a variety of jobs within biotech companies, pharmaceutical companies, and universities.
- I ultimately chose to work as a professor for California State University, San Bernardino.
- I built my career up in science and healthcare education and finally landed at my current position as president of San Merritt University.
