[My job] allowed me to learn a lot of valuable skills that I can now pass on to anyone else trying to make it up through a nontraditional way.
About Anthony
- As a huge gamer, I started trying to hack video games to give myself health or money boosts.
- I ended up finding forums of others who were also trying to hack into those video games—I learned a lot about the techniques people were using to break into machines and compromise systems.
- During my senior year of high school, I participated in a dual enrollment program and took classes in subjects like anti-hacking to solidify my skills.
- After high school, I was accepted into the Year Up workforce development program where I developed hard skills in information security as well as soft skills needed for the workforce in general.
- Year Up also helped me get an internship in information security with Hulu.
- After my internship, Hulu kept me on as a security analyst.
- I’m also currently working toward my associate degree in information security to bolster my skills.
