I'm from Huntsville, Alabama, I graduated from Illinois, my bachelor's was in management information system. And then I got my Masters of Science with a concentration in logistics from the Florida Institute of technology. But currently I work for Coca Cola, I'm a customer solutions senior manager. So I'm working very closely with key stakeholders to just make sure that if end of the day our customers have product on their shelves. So I always knew I wanted to go to HBCU it's kind of like a small field family field, not just with your friends. It's like your teachers become like your friends, as I was going for internships, if I need to interview prep. I had that one teacher that would make sure that, okay, this is what you need to wear, this is how you need to hold yourself. And this is what you need to talk about, and just make sure that you are effectively communicating, just giving you those pointers to just help you be your best in the interviews. And so I'm like, yes, I made the right decision because I was able to make those connections. I would say do not limit yourself if there's something out there that you won't like really set intentions and goals on how you can get there. Be very specific in those steps, so do not give up, stay focus, and just really don't limit yourself is what I would say.

Take the initiative to network and build relationships. Having cheerleaders, mentors, and sponsors will help you get so much further than if you tried to do everything on your own. I also recommend creating a specific educational and career plan. Instead of just generally planning to get a certain job, really plan out the specific steps that you need to take to get to where you want to be.

Starting out with Coca-Cola was scary. It was a new industry for me and I was joining such a big company. I worked through the transition by creating a 30-60-90 development plan with my boss to make sure I got up to speed with where I needed to be.
