Skills & Education

Advice for getting started

Take the initiative to network and build relationships. Having cheerleaders, mentors, and sponsors will help you get so much further than if you tried to do everything on your own. I also recommend creating a specific educational and career plan. Instead of just generally planning to get a certain job, really plan out the specific steps that you need to take to get to where you want to be.

Here's the path I took:

  • High School

  • Bachelor's Degree

    Management Information Systems, General

    Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University

  • Graduate Degree

    Logistics

    Florida Institute of Technology

Life & Career Milestones

My path in life has been direct

  • 1.

    I grew up in Alabama.

  • 2.

I went to predominantly white middle and high schools, so I knew I wanted to go to an HBCU for college—it was also my family legacy to attend an HBCU.

  • 3.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in management information systems from Alabama Agricultural and Mechanical University.

  • 4.

I went to Florida Institute of Technology for graduate school and earned my master’s degree with a concentration in logistics.

  • 5.

I started my career as a program analyst for Raytheon.

  • 6.

After a couple of years at Raytheon, I joined The Coca-Cola Company as a central region operations support manager.

  • 7.

I’ve since spent 13 years with Coca-Cola working in project management, operations management, and customer engagement.

  • Starting out with Coca-Cola was scary. It was a new industry for me and I was joining such a big company. I worked through the transition by creating a 30-60-90 development plan with my boss to make sure I got up to speed with where I needed to be.
