About Regina
- I was born and raised in the Bronx by my mother—my father wasn’t around for much of my life.
- My first job was working at a golf course, where I realized early on that I really enjoyed being of service to others and was actually sought after for those positions.
- From there, I utilized my network to find a job as a personal assistant, which was great until my boss asked me to manage her personal expenses—I realized I needed to step back and learn those skills.
- I attended Year Up’s workforce development program in financial operations but got an internship in IT QA.
- It wasn’t my area of expertise but I relied on my confidence and support network to succeed.
- At Year Up, I realized that the skills I developed as the oldest of four siblings in a single-parent household could translate to marketable job skills, like record retention and asset management.
- Halfway through the program, I found out I was expecting, so I took a short break to have my baby before going back to school.
- After completing my internship, I landed a full-time position at JPMorgan Chase as a senior administrative assistant and eventually moved up to a senior executive assistant position.
