Whenever I feel fear or discomfort, I sprint towards that. Fear is just a compass directing you where you need to be going.
About Robert
- Grew up playing football and I wanted to continue playing by any means possible—decided to go to whichever college would pay the most in scholarships.
- I attended the University of Redlands, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in business and accounting.
- I have always struggled with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) but when I discovered accounting, it all clicked—I realized I could use my love of numbers and analytical thinking to my advantage.
- Began pursuing auditing as a career path and by the first year out of college, I was already on my third job.
- Early on, I struggled to find a company that fit me—then I got a job in auditing at RSM US and their core value of pursuing your passion really resonated with me.
- After three years, I left RSM briefly to pursue accounting for the cannabis industry, but it didn’t fulfill me, so I took two months off and traveled the world teaching yoga.
- After returning to the U.S., I contacted RSM US and they gave me my job back—in addition to auditing, I worked on their health and wellness initiatives.
- Now I'm Senior Manager at Baker Tilly US and owner of a health/well-being enterprise specializing in educating, elevating and liberating body and mind via professional speaking, teaching and coaching.
