Olympic Champion/Wheelchair Racing Athlete
Things are worth fighting for in life…and it's always overcoming a barrier of some kind. And whatever form that barrier takes, we all have a decision to make.
About Jeff
- Says when he first started racing, he didn't know he wanted to do it with his life, just liked it, was good at it.
- Believes that if you find what you're good at, you'll enjoy it more; the passion and talent feed off each other.
- Says people who take their talent for granted often don't work hard enough, don't do as well; says you have to put the work in no matter what.
- Took a psychology course in college that wouldn't accommodate him, told him he'd have to climb a flight of stairs to take the class.
- Made the effort to get up those stairs; says getting up the stairs taught him more than the actual psychology course.
- Went on to climb the 1,776 stairs of the CN Tower in Ontario, Canada.
- Says he learns more from races he loses-even the worst loss of his life wasn't so bad, taught him a good lesson.
- Thinks that the process of suffering and overcoming after a loss should be valued as much as-if not more than-a win.
