Insights From The Film

When I first entered college, I needed something creative. Art is such a integral part of the black experience, but I didn't think a creative job was something I could pursue because of my lack of money and network. &gt;&gt; I'm from East Los Angeles. I have had access to technology but I think I didn't have access to was the idea that I could be someone making technology. It was just wasn't something I saw in my community, you can't be what you can't see. &gt;&gt; A lot of people don't realize how little time we have left. In my lifetime, I can see global temperatures decrease, I can see climate change decreasing. I wanna help the planet but my confidence level. It's like, how am I gonna do that? You really think you're gonna do that? I'm just one person. I don't even know where to start. Well, we're gonna be doing a three week road trip. &gt;&gt; All up the East Coast ending in Chicago. &gt;&gt; Meeting people who are doing what they love. Making an income and also making an impact. &gt;&gt; I think when people think of social impact or social change, they usually think public office. And I think that's a big misconception. &gt;&gt; And so we're talking to environmentalist, tech people, creative people who are leaders and their fields and making the change that I hope to one day make myself. &gt;&gt; There's no pretending that things are okay. That's step one. &gt;&gt; But every day you should be getting up thinking about how you're gonna make a difference and how can you play a role in the future of impact? &gt;&gt; I ensure that my mission is to, as I rise up, reach back. &gt;&gt; I finally feel now that there's actually a place for me. &gt;&gt; The fact that we went on this road trip and did crazy things just represents the idea that the things we do is really limitless. &gt;&gt; I'm here for a reason. &gt;&gt; And I'm jumping in. &gt;&gt; The changes that I wanna make in this world are gonna happen. And I'm not gonna do it alone, which is even cooler. [MUSIC]
