Day In The Life Of A CEO An Accessible Navigation Company

My Day to Day

I wake up around 5 a.m., start my day with coffee, and get a head start on emails and work while the house is still quiet. After a workout, I head to a coffee shop for my first meeting, usually with a potential customer or investor. The rest of my morning and afternoon consist of internal team meetings, strategy sessions, emails, customer demos or pitch meetings, community events, and meetings for the external Boards I'm involved with.

Skills & Education

Here's the path I took:

  • High School

  • Bachelor's Degree

Government - Public Policy and International Relations

    United States Coast Guard Academy

  • Graduate Degree

    Public Policy

    Harvard Kennedy School of Government

Life & Career Milestones

I've taken a lot of twists and turns

  • 1.

I knew I wanted to serve and go to a military college, and I chose the U.S. Coast Guard because I was intrigued by marine biology.

  • 2.

After taking a biology class, I knew marine biology wasn’t for me, so I transitioned and focused more on international relations and public policy.

  • 3.

After graduating, I worked with the military in roles like intelligence, search and rescue, and policy advocacy.

  • 4.

I went back to school and earned my master’s degree in public policy from the Harvard Kennedy School, which broadened my understanding of impactful leadership.

  • 5.

Joining McKinsey & Company, I tackled diverse challenges for governments, nonprofits, and private organizations, gaining a global perspective on problem-solving.

  • 6.

I became the first Chief of Performance Improvement for Louisville Metro Government, leading cross-agency innovations in technology, data, and service delivery.

  • 7.

As CEO of Metro United Way, I transformed the 100-year-old nonprofit into a data-driven organization, integrating technology to enhance community services.

  • 8.

After a sabbatical, I joined GoodMaps as CEO, channeling my passion for technology and social good to revolutionize indoor mapping and accessibility.
