My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
Discovered I liked art in middle school and grade 9.
2.
Was headed for the health sciences track but discovered it was not for me.
3.
Got into the computer science program.
4.
Hated the computer science program and found it extremely hard and painful.
5.
Rediscovered art as a way to do more design work and work that really made me feel good.
6.
Got an internship at an educational game company.
7.
Freelanced as an interactive designer for a few years and successfully earned a good living.
8.
Became Lead Designer and given the opportunity to lead product teams.

You have to be really smart and it's saturated by men. Very few women go into this field.
How I responded:
I looked at these as challenges to overcome. It gave me a long-term goal of trying to succeed in spite of the noise.
