The day starts very early in the morning and can go late at night, but I love what I do and I'm passionate about it because we’re taking care of people. That’s very important to me.

Milestones

My road in life has been direct.
As a kid, my dad owned his own business. So he always pushed me to be an entrepreneur.
Attended Lehigh University for both my undergrad and graduate degrees. I ended up working for the University at a young age.
I worked in marketing for Lehigh’s athletic department for a few years.
Eventually, I ended up working for the university’s leadership, directly under the Vice President.
I continued to work in communication and marketing, and I always cared about helping people.
Over time, those interests led me to working for health causes.
While my dad always wanted me to start my own business, I learned I work better within a large, structured system.
I've been working in a strategic marketing and communications role in healthcare for the past 15 years and find my work extremely rewarding.

Day to Day

I have oversight for all of our communication and external functions like community relations and government affairs. I think what I like most about my job is that each day is totally different. I come in with a list of things I know I need to get done because there’s a lot of activity we have to react and be proactive and respond to it. It’s exciting. Anything from crisis communications to media relations to management, those are all critical to what I do.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for college students

In any career, a specific skill that you can hone in on is really critical. For me that’s writing, specifically for communication. Whether that’s in email communications, or letters or correspondence. I’m also really good at organizing my thoughts and presenting. I can take complicated information and simplify in a few words to convey what it is we’re trying to convince or inform people about. I recommend really learning what particular skill can serve you well throughout your career.
