How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
Oh you're an English major? What are you going to do with that, be a teacher?
How I responded:
English majors, who are truly liberal arts majors, acquire a deep skillset of enriched critical thinking and problem solving skills (along with the ability to write, debate, create, give and receive constructive criticism, and effectively collaborate) These are all skills proven to be in high demand in today's workforce demand realities. These type of "human" skills are going to be central to the future of work.
