Milestones

My road in life has taken me all over.
I didn't think I would get into college. (High school- Senior)
Thought I wanted to be a personal trainer, but realized I don't like the science side of exercise. (College- Freshman)
Had no idea what I wanted to do or if college was even for me. (College- first semester Sophomore)
Took a communication class and thought this is something I can do and eventually declared it as my major. (College- second semester Sophomore)
For fun decided to take a graphic design class just to fill a credit and realized I loved it. (College- Junior)
Struggled finding a job and thought that I did not have the qualifications. (College- second semester senior)
Interviewed with Ascend Indiana just over a month after graduation.
After they extended me a job offer I accepted and relocated to Indianapolis IN.

Day to Day

A typical day at works starts with me greeting my coworkers and catching up on how their evening or weekend was as we settle in. Next I check my email and calendar to see what is on my agenda. On my agenda I could have update print materials, create power point templets, update the company website, create social media graphics, brand reports or presentations and much more. If it can be printed, posted or presented there is a good chance I will have had some hand in the final product.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for everyone

Create a portfolio and just start designing. Not all experience is in the classroom or from a job or internship. From free lance work or stuff you made just for fun, If you think its good add it to your portfolio. The more you do it the better you become. Art and design can't be graded it is all in the perception of the viewer.
