Day to Day

The main part of my job is assigning claims to the First Party Medical team for Florida. Then I help with any mail that comes in or tasks that pop up.

Skills & Qualities Beyond School

It is very important to be organized and hold yourself accountable for your responsibilities. I always try to ask for more work too. Generally, a good knowledge of computers and the technology you are working with is always a good thing.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for college students

Find a way to set yourself apart from the others. For me, it was my soft skills that others didn't have. Be open to starting something that is not your dream job. You have to work for most good things in life.

"If you want to be an Actuary you have to move up north."

You can find actuary jobs anywhere. Just depends on the company.

Challenges I Overcame

Health issues
Health issues

Being diagnosed with cancer at 22 years old, 5 months into my job was very difficult. I was out of the office for 7 months going through treatment and doctor appointments. Coming back and having to learn everything again was hard.
