You shouldn't go to art school, instead major in Advertising to make money. The reality is I did not connect with the advertising profession. I learned valuable skills from my degree that transferred to what I do now- but I had to do some soul searching.
How I responded:
Everyone will have an opinion on what you should do- and it is likely because they love you. The thing to remember is that you will be most successful in what you love. Sometimes the things you love may not translate to a big, fancy career- but you will definitely develop skills that you can use for your life. Most of these skills require practice, and typically it is easier to practice the things you love. So, don't drop that accordion or paint brush because it "won't" make you the big bucks!
