How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Peers:
We all face criticism from others and maybe even ourselves about our choices and aspirations. Some of it's well-meaning, while some of it is just negative noise. We can grow from both. However, in both instances, we have to remain focused on our goal(s).
How I responded:
It's important to stay focused on your goal(s) so don’t just follow money, but follow your passion and the rest will fall into place. Helping people develop into their best selves is more rewarding. Don't be concerned about interruptions in your journey. Each professional experience has helped to inform my present profession. You will obtain multiple transferable skills that will help you to become successful. Never turn down an opportunity to become your best self...go where you can grow!
Experiences and challenges that shaped me
Financial security is often a dilemma while pursuing educational goals. I knew that I couldn't add to my current educational debt that was accumulated during undergrad/master degrees. Becoming an ACT Scholar (Scholarship for Ph.D.) is a blessing.
