Worked at the Naval shipyard for government contractor and didn't like it.
Introduced to insurance over lunch with a relative in the industry.
First Manager saw leadership qualities in me as a trainee.
Moved out of claims and into underwriting to learn the full scope of the business.
A merger / acquisition brought me back to my strength being a leader in claims.

Day to Day

In a typical day, there are numerous meetings and conference calls with various leaders in the company. There could be customer or agent / broker interaction as well. There may be mentoring and definitely interaction with engaged employees. In meetings, you would see active leadership and sharing of ideas with a focus on empathetic claim behaviors and employee development. A great day is one where the leaders all think cohesively and are interchangeable in running the organization.
