I volunteer at my church on Sundays and Wednesdays caring for children of all ages.
On Sundays I now teach in the Three's and Four's class previously I had tought in the Kindergarten class for over a year. I start by welcoming children as they come in and letting them and their parents feel safe. Then I play with the children and run through the curriculum while the parents are in service. On Wednesday's I care for the children of our volunteers at the church, I make sure the kids have something fun to do in a safe environment for the night.
Here's the first step for everyone
Put yourself out there start talking to those around you see if there's anything you need to know or should know before you start working for someone because it's not what you know it's who you know , take a CPR class, see if you can shadow someone of you want to work with children professionally. Just get out there and start small, take baby steps, see if you actually like working with children or what age groups you prefer before you go and make a career out of it.
