My path in life took a while to figure out
1.
In college, had a summer internship at an ad agency. Loved it, but it was hard to get in industry
2.
Went to a career fair in college with a friend and met recent grads working for Deloitte
3.
Applied on a whim, was hired, and started on a project that was just not for me
4.
Worked hard and figured out what I wanted. Now have projects I love that let me travel!
Defining Moments
How I responded to discouragement
THE NOISE
Messages from Society in general:
"There is no money in advertising. You'll learn the same things in consulting and make more money."
How I responded:
I listened to this and chose consulting; however, I promised myself that I would find projects that echoed what I loved about advertising - long hours, creative thinking, working in teams, and travelling. My first project did not meet that bill - I looked at Excel spreadsheets all day, every day. But I stayed focused, did a lot of soul searching, and proved myself until I was able to choose the projects that I wanted. Now, I could not be happier with where I am in my career.
