Day to Day

Sometimes I work in different places especially during pre-production. Keeps me getting fueled with ideas. Once the idea has formed into shape and the picture becomes clearer we start preparations for production which comes with one downside, costing the project. Now as a content producer you have to make sure to find the best tools for the job. Once that is done we schedule shooting days and time spent during post. Once all is wrapped the fun starts: Putting it all together into a wonderful piece.

Skills & Qualities Beyond School

First I'd say you need patience, nothing is learned by watching only. Without proper hand-on experience and the room for you to own mistakes, there won't be growth. Most of the skills are learned quick through remembering all the rules before you break them, which requires you to create more and more. The art of film-making is not to please yourself only but to engage others with your creations. It might be a small clip about birds, a TVC, a short movie etc. If someone can not relate it won't work.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for high school students

Use your tools and never blame the budget. There are a bunch of tutorials out there to teach you how and what to do, to overcome the biggest obstacles. And don't stop reading. Write down the stories you read in short form, maximum a page. Than imagine how you want to tell that story visually. The shorter the better. Try less dialogue and more emotions and actions. The words will come sooner or later.

The Noise I Shed

"So you think u'll be the next Steven Spielberg." "Still not a famous director!" "Where is my red carpet."

Don't do it for the fame! Don't do it for anybody else other than yourself. And yes I do say "Cut" and "Action." :-) There is more than one person making a film. And sometimes the noise can be a transition to what you really want to tell.

Challenges I Overcame

Financial
Financial

I learned to live on what I have and not what society preaches on TV that I should get. There is so much DIY in all of us that will help us change the way we eat, drink, sleep and live.
