Milestones

My road in life took a while to figure out.
Worked hard as a customer service representative.
Then I helped on a big project and found I liked working in a group.
I got a mentor and did informational interviews to determine what I wanted to be when I grow up.
Took business process management classes and later became a coach.
Found a great job on a great team doing what I love.

Day to Day

I work on an "AGILE" team. In the morning, we have a stand up and talk about what we did yesterday, what we are going to do today and any impediments we have to getting work done. After our daily stand up, we go and work on any "stories" we have written for the current sprint (learn more https://www.versionone.com / agile-101/). If we are talking about a "Great Day" I would be working on documenting our customer journey through our application process on a whiteboard.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for high school students

I would research process management to understand more about it and to see if it is something that interests you. You can use the internet for a basic understanding. If you are still interested after reading up on it, I would do an informational interview with someone who is a process manager. You can ask them anything you want about their job and how they got to where they are.
