Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Society in general:

People expect me to be doing what I am doing but don't want me to do any better. People have told me, 'Don't to try to be an attorney and the industry is not the same as it used to be. It's not what you think so don't waste your time.'

  • How I responded:

I do not let doubters affect me. I know that when I work hard and have faith in God I can accomplish my goals. If God opens the door to the path of success in my life that nobody on Earth can close that door. "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." Philippians 4:13

Experiences and challenges that shaped me

  • We did not have the money for me to attend college or a computer. I focused on academics to achieve a 4.0 GPA and get involved in extra-curricular activities. I went to the school library at lunch to apply for scholarships to pay for my education.

  • I had to remain focused on the importance of education. I found the funds by scholarships since I did not want loans. I was motivated to be the example for the future generations of my family that we can and will further our education.
