Life & Career Milestones

My path in life took a while to figure out

  • 1.

First I just paid attention to what I like to do.

  • 2.

Then I looked to see if I could make a career out of it.

  • 3.

Once I found out that I could, I looked into a major that would fit into my career goals.

  • 4.

Once I got into that major, I learned the most that I could from my teachers and classmates.

  • 5.

In the last semester of my senior year I did my internship with my major focus.

  • 6.

Helped me to finally decide that I was on the right path and that is what I wanted to do as a career.

Defining Moments

How I responded to discouragement

  • THE NOISE

    Messages from Society in general:

You shouldn't go into Parks and Recreation Administration because there really isn't any money in that field of work.

  • How I responded:

I knew what I wanted and kept focusing on what made me happy so I kept going even though people really didn't believe in me. I proved my point, educated them and myself more to prove to the world that it is possible and you can make a career.

Experiences and challenges that shaped me

  • I was born in South Korea, adopted when I was 5 months old. I grew up thinking & behaving like I was white. I had a person yell racist things to me as well as applying for college. All you have to do is hold your head up and know you are amazing.
