Working with Others

Day to Day

My normal day typically involves communicating with insurance regulators and co-workers from across the country. New laws and regulations constantly must be reviewed to see how they may affect our employees and business. I assist all newly hired sales employees in obtaining appropriate state and federal licenses, which allow them to sell the products offered by our company. Furthermore, I assist in conducting background checks on all prospective employees.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for college students

I would recommend someone looking to pursue my occupation to have an interest in how the world is affected by laws and regulations. Seeking internships is a good first step to see if you could envision yourself in a specific field. Not only do financial companies offer careers in compliance, but so do retail, technology, and other types of companies. It is best to research the different compliance opportunities in various fields to see which one most interests you.
