Problem Solving

Day to Day

My work day is usually spent meeting with the finance teams that I support. I work on projects ranging from big to small. In these meetings I learn about how the finance team does their work, what issues come up, and I help plan how to improve their processes. I then go back to my desk to do some analysis to start problem-solving, and plan how the improvement project will go.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for college students

In every class you take, figure out what problem solving skills it offers you. The facts that you learn will rarely relate to your career in business, but challenging yourself to take classes that teach you problem solving skills will offer you the best skills to tackle any career path in business. Don't just memorize and regurgitate, but learn how to think and how to apply those skills broadly.
