Milestones

My road in life took a while to figure out.
Worked as a waiter / bartender full time through college. Parents could not help.
Father got cancer so had to stop school and get another job to help with bills, mop floors 10pm-4am.
Mopping floors at a hospital led to becoming a manager in the morning shift.
Managing the Housekeeping department well, led to managing more departments.
Got recruited to work for a management company managing different departments in hospitals.
Did that extremely well but was miserable working 7 days a week and every holiday and weekend.
Got recruited to a bank and started from the bottom again, worked way up to manager.
Did the branch manager job well and then was asked to be a district manager and have been doing that well.

Day to Day

On a typical day I start by pulling data and seeing where my Region is in comparison to its goals. Once I have analyzed all the data, I then begin to set a plan in order to catch up on any gaps in either sales or service. I then work very closely with the Regional leadership team to ensure we execute properly on that plan. I am also responsible to ensure that each member of the team has all the tools and updates they need to perform their job to the best of their ability.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for high school students

Math is important, the higher you go the more complex it may become. English and writing are by far one of the best things to focus on. Every time you have a great idea you will need to put it into words and you need to make sure people understand it. Learn Excel, Powerpoint, and Word, for these are the programs you will be consistently using. Take some kind of public speaking courses and get yourself out in front of people. The more times you do it the better you will get.
