My path in life has been direct
1.
When I was young, I thought I wanted to become a pilot but realized my size and stature would make that challenging.
2.
I decided it was most important to be flexible and keep my options open for as long as I could until I found something that fit.
3.
I earned my bachelor’s degree in business, focusing on human resource management and thinking I’d ultimately go into human resources.
4.
I tried my hand at human resources but realized that it wasn’t quite the right fit for me.
5.
I pivoted into the publishing field and began my career as a sales representative for a publisher in Dallas, Texas.
6.
From there, I spent 38 years building my career in the educational publishing space.
7.
I now work as the president and CEO of McGraw Hill, one of the leading publishing companies for educational content.
8.
Funnily enough, I wasn’t able to become a pilot—but I still ended up in a career that allows me to travel incredibly often!
