Day In The Life Of A CEO Of An Tech Education Nonprofit

My Day to Day

My job as CEO of the foundation is to set the strategy, hire good people, and keep the team aligned. A lot of my job is communications. I lead a global team of about 250 people. I connect with students, researchers, and partners to expand access to computing and AI education. Whether I’m meeting with teachers, reviewing research, or building partnerships, my focus is creating opportunities for every student to develop the skills, confidence, and mindset to shape the future with technology.

My path in life took a while to figure out

  • 1.

    Growing up in a small town in North Wales, I was fascinated by electronics and music, but I had no clear picture of where my future would lead.

  • 2.

    I left school at 15 and spent my days running record shops and DJing.

  • 3.

    A boss challenged me to return to school or lose my job, and that push changed the course of my life.

  • 4.

    I went back to night school to study business and finance, and I became very interested in combining business and social impact.

  • 5.

    I went on to university, studied law, and joined a government graduate program where I built skills that would become the foundation of my leadership journey.

  • 6.

    Throughout my career, I followed opportunities that challenged me to learn, even when they meant uncertainty, change, or a step backward financially.

    Today, I lead the Raspberry Pi Foundation, helping young people around the world unlock opportunity through computing, technology, and AI.
