My road in life has taken me all over.
I was sentenced to eight years in maximum adult security prisons for carjacking when I was 15 years old.
I fell quickly into a dark and depressed mindset while in prison—it was letters from my mom and my family that saved my life while incarcerated.
After being released from prison, I got a job at a paint store.
From there, I started my own painting business that soon grew into a construction firm.
My business was successful and I was able to travel the world, buy real estate, get married, and start a family.
While making a life for myself outside of prison, I felt guilty for not following through on my promise to send pictures and letters to my friends who were still incarcerated.
I knew I couldn’t be the only one thinking the process of printing pictures, going to the post office, buying postage, and mailing everything was inconvenient, so I began thinking of better methods.
I researched how to build an app that would allow someone to send pictures as postcards from their phone and thus created Flikshop!
