Day In The Life Of The CEO Of Blockchains

Milestones

My road in life has taken me all over.
I grew up in a relatively normal middle-class family and was expected to go to college to become a lawyer, doctor, or engineer.
I graduated from college and went straight into law school to get my law degree.
After graduating from law school, I started my own practice with a primary focus of advising and consulting with companies on business challenges and corporate growth.
I worked as a plaintiff lawyer for many years, helping consumers fight against large corporations.
When I reached a point in my life where I could retire, my daughter had asked me how I’d changed the world—that helped light a fire in me to keep working and try to make a difference.
That period of reflection—also compounded with having witnessed such destruction in class action lawsuits against banks—caused me to close my law practice and discover Blockchains.
I plan to eventually build a smart city using blockchain technology.
Keep following my journey

Day to Day

I'm the CEO of a startup that is using blockchain technology to reimagine how we exist and interact with each other. My work revolves around supporting those who work for me. I create and translate my vision for the company's future and then put myself behind my employees so they can make it happen. I open doors and breakdown barriers for them. I'm also the face of the company, so I spend time meeting with potential partners and engaging in outside activities to drive the vision of the company.

Skills & Qualities Beyond School

Creativity and critical-thinking skills are very important while we build the foundation for a new eco-system. For example, it's easy to say that people should control their own medical records but what does that actually mean? We need people who can actually think through those things and come up with effective ideas. I think it's also important to be able to pivot as more information comes in. You do a disservice to yourself if you stay rigid and can't adapt.

Advice for Getting Started

Here's the first step for high school students

Learn how to code. We're at a point where you don't necessarily need a college degree for a variety of jobs, including jobs within my company. I suggest taking time to learn how to code and learn how computers work. I believe those are the skills you'll need to get ahead and make an impact in the future.
