Over the years, Serena realized that much of her education was being whitewashed—focusing on Black trauma, rather than acknowledging systemic racism or celebrating Black innovators. And this past year, she felt her voice was stifled at school, where students were discouraged from talking about the Black Lives Matter movement. So she turned to social media to speak her mind—and found that people wanted to hear more. Now she’s ready to use her interests in journalism, political science, and activism to educate others in a new way.
