About Patti
- I set out to change the world through documentary filmmaking, earning degrees in film and TV production.
- My first job offer was low pay on the graveyard shift, so I passed and chose to keep learning instead.
- I got a Ph.D. thinking I’d become a professor but realized the research side wasn’t for me.
- I joined an edtech startup in the San Francisco Bay Area, shooting videos and eventually becoming vice president of product development.
- I pivoted to nonprofit work, using education as a tool to help people access better jobs.
- Walmart Foundation funded one of my nonprofit projects—when a job opened there, I took the leap and moved to Arkansas.
- At Walmart Foundation, I now fund training programs that help people build skills for good-paying jobs.
