About Sunny Day

  • I grew up in Billings, Montana.
  • When I was nine years old, I was given a Crow Apsáalooke name meaning “raises good children,” instilling a lifelong mission in me to uplift Native students.
  • I started my career as an elementary school teacher.
  • I eventually decided to go back to school, earning dual master’s degrees in Indigenous teacher education and educational leadership.
  • After graduating, I served as the Director of Indian Education in Ronan School District.
  • I now work as the director of American Indian outreach at the Native American Achievement Center at Montana State University Billings.
  • Guided by a passion for equity, I bridge educational gaps, fostering a vibrant native community.
