About Gerrit

• When I was a kid, my dad would set up bulletin board systems on computers, which I found fascinating—it sparked my interest in computer science.
• I went to college for computer science and got my first IT job while I was a junior in college.
• After graduating, I built my career in IT, working as a consultant and security engineer.
• As I gained experience, I learned what I did and did not like about IT, and was able to steer my career toward the things I did enjoy.
• I had a friend who owned a cybersecurity company and hired me as his first employee—when he left to start a new company, I bought the first one from him and became my own employer.
• Another friend joined forces with me to create Psicurity, an IT and cybersecurity company, where I currently work as the chief operations officer.
• In addition to my work in IT, I’m also a field active member and mission coordinator for the Alpine Rescue Team.
