That’s something I tell people when they seem overwhelmed: it’s not just you.
About Chelsea
- I grew up in Austin, Texas.
- I come from a family of engineers—my grandfather, both of my parents, and my brother are engineers.
- In high school, I was interested in both engineering and musical theater but I decided to pursue engineering because I wasn’t as comfortable with the subjective nature of musical theater.
- I earned my bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with a minor in mathematics from the University of Evansville in Indiana.
- After graduating, it was difficult to find the right engineering position for me, so I actually worked as a retail manager.
- My dad, who works for Tokyo Electron Ltd., informed me that the company was looking for someone to fill a temporary role working with code that I had actually spent a lot of time on in college.
- That temporary part-time position ultimately led to my full-time position now as a research systems engineer.
