About Pashon
- I grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
- My family had a farm in Mississippi that I would visit often during school breaks—going down South and seeing Black people doing all kinds of progressive things was very impactful for me.
- My dad was a contractor and would take me with him sometimes to the landfill, something that didn’t make sense to me even as a child.
- I went to Texas Southern University and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in marketing.
- When I moved back home, Grand Rapids was investing in creating a more sustainable city and I started thinking about how I could help those efforts.
- In 2010, I co-founded Detroit Dirt, which specializes in providing compost and biomass solutions in Detroit, Michigan.
- I also launched Detroit Dirt Foundation in 2016 to combat environmental deterioration by providing programs and services on things like sustainable land utilization and improved waste management.
