About TJ
- I grew up in the California Central Valley and moved to Texas in my 20s.
- After moving to Texas, I started working for Blue Cross Blue Shield as a claims examiner and a customer service representative.
- I spent five years with Blue Cross Blue Shield—during which I got married, started a family, and moved to Sweetwater, Texas—and then decided to look for a job closer to home in Sweetwater.
- I found a job working for Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital as an office clerk.
- My job with the hospital wasn’t paying enough, so I left and got a job working for the post office—I liked working outside but doing so in the extreme West Texas weather wasn’t sustainable.
- After six years with the post office, I went back to work for Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital as a human resources assistant—the switch allowed me to have more time for my family.
- I went back to school and earned my associate degree in business marketing technology from Texas State Technical College.
- I was then promoted to marketing director for Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital as well as executive director for the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital Foundation.
