My name is Catalina Torres I was born and raised in Colombia. I never imagined that I was gonna be in video games. I was not a video gamer when I was little. I was always interested in creative areas. So my dream was to work for Future Price I ended up setting on Parsons and in New York, he had a concentration in Toy design. And then you know one thing led to another and when I was at school I start getting very curious about game design, and then I just fell in love with it instead of this line and physical toys, and products. I was now just designing digital toys on experiences. People point out but you never grew up doing these, or never grew up doing that, or you're a girl. So those moments of self doubt just think about how you go where you are, the opportunity that is in front of you, and how all you need to do is really to believe in yourself, and and be true to it.

Once you graduate from college, you need to give yourself some space to gain life experience, figure out what's out there, and try things. I recommend finding a hands-on internship where you can learn on-the-job skills while also building a network. The internship I did after grad school was a pivotal experience for me.

I moved from Colombia to New York for graduate school. Moving away from my family, home, and culture was very difficult. I thought I'd made a bad decision. It got a lot better once I became more involved in my classes and discovered my true passion.

My role as a producer is to keep the team connected. I spend time checking in with other team members to make sure we're all on track with product milestones. I also make sure the team is staying consistent with product vision and other stakeholder points of interest. If we hit any roadblocks, it's my job to help the team work together to find a solution.

I don't belong in the video game industry because I didn't grow up as a gamer.
