About Giesla
- I had a fifth-grade teacher who really supported and encouraged me—it’s because of her that I feel as if I’m paying it forward as a teacher now.
- After graduating with my bachelor’s degree, I started a family and was a stay-at-home mom.
- One of the other moms at my children's school encouraged me to look into an open teaching position at the school.
- I started off teaching Spanish for elementary school students, then moved into teaching music, and eventually became the middle school Spanish teacher.
- I thought that this was the time in my life to just focus on my children, but I was also driven to progress in my career once I started exploring the leadership side of academia.
- My school was looking to fill a leadership role, which felt like a logical next step for me, so I decided to start Western Governors University's Master of Science in Educational Leadership program.
- Once I complete my master’s program, I’ll be able to step into the head of school position at the school that I currently teach at!
