If you’re exposed to something and you can see it’s directly connected to you, act on that. You can go to school for this, but [learning] hands-on is really the best way to do it.
About Peter
- Born and raised in New York City.
- His father died when he was 4 years old, but he credits him with sparking his interest in renewable energy.
- In the 1960s, he spent a lot of time on an island off the coast of Greenwich, CT, where his father had built up a property that had no access to electricity but was powered by wind energy.
- After graduating high school, he spent several years traveling and studying art in Italy and attending art schools like the Pratt Institute and Columbia University.
- Visited his sister in New Mexico and decided he was going to move there to get away from the chaos of New York City—he bought a rural piece of land with no electricity or running water.
- He taught himself how to activate the water well on his property using pumps and power his trailer using solar panels—he began helping other rural properties in the area do the same.
- Moved to Santa Fe and started a company designing and installing a variety of solar powered products.
- As the company grew, he decided to expand their offerings and services—he now runs AMENERGY, which creates custom renewable energy solutions.
