Some people say, ‘Set goals and make them realistic.’ I think the other way: I say shoot for the moon. If you truly want something, make it happen...and don’t let anybody tell you you can’t do it.
About Derrick
- As a child, I spent many Sunday afternoons outside with my dad, listening to baseball on the radio.
- When I got to ASU & thought about what I wanted to do, I realized I loved sports more than anything.
- After school, I worked a few jobs before deciding to get a master’s degree in sports administration.
- I joined the Dodgers organization as an intern and stayed there for 12 years.
- My years there taught me what it took to run a baseball organization from day to day.
- My goal was always to return to Arizona, so I jumped at the chance to work for the Diamondbacks.
- I do everything I can to improve the culture of the D-Backs organization and give back to our community.
