We live in one of the greatest countries in the world because we don’t have to ask permission to make a difference.

About Jas

As a single mother, she enlisted in the Army Reserves to build a better life for her and her son.
Within the span of one year, she was mobilized to deploy to Iraq, lost her New Orleans home to Hurricane Katrina, and was diagnosed with cancer.
Once they found out that her form of cancer was aggressive, the military decided that she would no longer deploy to Iraq.
She didn’t want to scare her son, so she decided to undergo cancer treatment on her own, leading him to believe she had still gone overseas.
After she went into remission, she was left unemployed; facing homelessness, she asked the military for help, and they advised her to apply for welfare.
Since she’d been left without any solutions, she assumed her situation was unique; however, once she looked into the issue, she found tens of thousands of women veterans had also been left homeless.
Since she’d taken an oath never to leave a fallen comrade behind, she felt the need to help her fellow female vets.
She founded Final Salute, which has provided over 10,000 days of housing to homeless women veterans and their children.
