About Brian
- He’d never been someone to sit on the sidelines—when he saw conflict, he wanted to jump in and help to solve it—so after 9/11, he knew he wanted to join the Marine Corps.

- At one time, he was in command of nine hundred and fifty other people; he was also awarded the Silver Star, the nation’s third-highest award for valor in combat.
- While he was on active duty, he became a professional MMA fighter to help pay the bills.
- After getting out of the military, he took a job with a medical IT company and spent his time looking through spreadsheets.
- Calls that job a waste of his military experience, but also says that it helped him see that employers weren’t going to naturally understand his unique skill sets.
- As a result, he decided to use his platform as a well-known MMA fighter to help build Hire Heroes USA from a start-up nonprofit into one of the top veteran organizations in the nation.
- The nonprofit pairs veterans with career counselors and transition specialists for one-on-one mentoring and personalized advice.
