When you do what you're supposed to do and you do it well, things happen. I honestly believe that.
About Cynthia
- Grew up in South Florida with immigrant parents who didn't have the opportunity to go to college.
- Parents had to go clean restaurants and do hard labor to get by; taught her how to have a great work ethic.
- Was a nosy kid; says she loved figuring out why things worked the way they did.
- Had never even heard of the Ivy League, but applied to Princeton University at the behest of her counselor.
- Was homesick and cold in New Jersey, but kept herself busy, found more things she liked to do, felt more and more comfortable.
- Studied chemical engineering; one of her internships dealt with material science, she went on to get her doctorate in that field.
- Now works at Dow Chemical engineering fluids so they'll give cars better mileage on each gallon of gas, reduce emissions.
- Knows she's in the right field because her job feeds her curiosity, keeps her up at night, motivates her to go into work everyday.
