Chisel away the things you don't like, but really jump on the things you do like.
About Tina
- After graduating from the University of Pennsylvania, she was "ready to conquer the world."
- She had a dual degree in chemistry and archaeology, and she was preparing to go to medical school.
- She'd done research in a chemistry lab during her undergrad, and she realized that she was more interested in that than in going to med school.
- Now she works for a national lab in the applied research area, where she can do hands-on work.
- Her drive comes from looking at big problems and using her applied science knowledge to find solutions.
- She's currently developing an inorganic sponge-like material that "cleans up" radioactive materials and was used after the Fukushima meltdown.
- Highly recommends finding mentors; says that by talking to and watching the people around you, you'll figure out what works and what doesn't.
- For her, success means truly loving what you're doing, and finding something that will continually engage and challenge you.
