Mountaineer/Public Speaker/Writer
If you don't take that risk, really, the risk is even greater. You never know what could have been.
About Peter
- Son of Sir Edmund Hillary, the first man to ever climb Mt. Everest.
- People often criticize him for following in his father's footsteps, but in fact, his father always told him to get a stable, 9-to-5 job.
- When he was a child, he grew up around climbing-his 12th birthday was spent near the base of Mt. Everest.
- Yet, for a long time, he limited his career options to lawyer, doctor, laborer, or engineer.
- He could never resist the pull of adventure, and he gradually went from rock climbing, to mountaineering, to climbing all Seven Summits.
- Spent years doing odd jobs to fund his mountaineering, until he realized he could mold his passion into a profitable career.
- Started advising on mountaineering trips, writing and speaking about his experiences, and designing outdoor equipment.
- He also runs the Himalayan Trust, which was started by his father, and works to eradicate poverty in the Everest region of Nepal.
